The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has urged Ghanaians to take advantage of the country’s numerous tourist attractions ahead of the Christmas festivities, highlighting tourism’s vital role in national development.
The call was made during a ceremony to officially reopen the Nationalis

m Park, marking its full restoration and readiness to receive visitors.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of General Services, Mr. Ben Anane Nsiah, said domestic tourism during the festive season offers citizens an opportunity to relax and unwind while simultaneously contributing to economic growth.

He noted that increased patronage of tourist sites boosts local businesses, creates jobs, and supports livelihoods across the tourism value chain.
Mr. Nsiah further emphasized that encouraging Ghanaians to visit tourist destinations also promotes the preservation of the country’s rich cultural heritage and natural resources, while fostering national unity and pride.

He urged families and individuals to explore Ghana’s historical landmarks, cultural centres, beaches, wildlife reserves, and other attractions, stressing that tourism remains a key driver of sustainable development.
The reopening of the Nationalism Park, he added, is part of broader efforts by the GTA to enhance visitor experience and promote domestic tourism, particularly during peak festive periods.
