Former GFA President urges Ghana to retain Carlos Queiroz as Black Stars coach.

Former Ghana Football Association president Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has called on the GFA to keep Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz in charge of the Black Stars, despite the team’s early exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking after Ghana’s Round of 32 defeat to Colombia, Nyaho-Tamakloe argued that frequently changing coaches disrupts progress. He advocated for continuity and a long-term rebuilding plan under Queiroz.

The veteran administrator noted that the Black Stars’ challenges go beyond the coach and require deeper structural reforms, including improved grassroots development and talent identification. He cited Morocco’s sustained investment in youth football as a model for Ghana to follow if it wants consistent success at the highest level.

Nyaho-Tamakloe also called for a return to Ghana’s traditional aggressive and entertaining style of play, while urging authorities to build a younger, more competitive squad for upcoming tournaments.

Queiroz led Ghana to the World Cup knockout stage for the first time since 2010. Although speculation about his future persists after the team’s elimination, Nyaho-Tamakloe believes retaining the experienced coach will bring the stability needed as the Black Stars prepare for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and the next World Cup cycle.
