Mahama to meet Finance Minister, contractor this Friday on stalled Takoradi market project

President John Mahama has invited the contractor working on the Takoradi market expansion to a meeting witb the Finance Minister, Dr Caisel Ato Forson this Friday, 7th February 2025.

This is intended to plan payment terms for outstanding arrears that has stalled the project.

He made the disclosure when he inspected work done so far during his Thank You Tour to the Western region on Wednesday, 5th January, 2025.

” I will convey a meeting with the Finance Minister and the contractor to find ways we can complete the project” he said

The Takoradi market expansion project which begun in 2021 was abandoned a year after. This was largely as a result of the debt exchange programme witb external creditors.

The delay in the completion of the project is seriously affecting traders who were compelled to relocate to a temporary site.

However, President John Mahama has assured them of prompt action which will prioritize the completion of the project.

. He is accompanied by General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Kwetey, Deputy Chief of Staff in Charge of Operations, Stan Dogbe, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide, MPs and party officials .

President Mahama also pledged his commitment to complete other abandoned projects across the country
