Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama is has assured the people of Bono East and other regions prone to highway robberies of swift measures to guarantee their safety if he forms the next government
Mr Mahama who was lamenting about major highway projects abandoned since the Akufo Addo Bawumia led government assumed office in January 2017 said, the current state of such deplorable roads have become fertile grounds for attacks on unsuspecting commuters, making lives uncomfortable.
According to John Mahama such evil acts thriving under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration as he put it. will not be countenanced under an NDC administration.
Speaking at a community engagement in the Pru East Constituency of the Bono East region on Tuesday, September 3,2024, Mr Mahama, who expressed worry about the increasing spate of insecurity in the country, pledged to retoool the Police service to make them more responsive.
“Our insecurity index is rising. People are complaining in every part of the country and momo vendors have been at the center the most and many vendors have been murdered yet the government seems clueless” he bemoaned
He continued.. “people have been attacked on highways and the Police don’t even have vehicles or bullet proof vests to combat such criminals”
He has since served notice that the next NDC administration will wage a relentless war against them
“I am warning all of you armed criminals who are moving around freely under the NPP administration that the NDC is coming and your days will be over. As for we in the NDC we will not countenance those behaviors” he warned.
