President John Mahama has decried the continue violence and killing in Bawku
According to him, there is the need for collaborative efforts to ensure lasting Peace.
Speaking at the Ghana Military Academy Graduation, Regular Career Course 63 on Friday, April 11,2025, President Mahama called for the need for the feuding factions to surrender and embrace peace.
“Nobody gains from this situation of conflict and insecurity.We need the cooperation of all to restore peace in Bawku and its environs”he intimated
President Mahama has since indicated that mediation talks led by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will resume next week.
“We have triggered the Otumfuo mediation process, which has all the stakeholders to ensure a roadmap towards peace. I am assured by the Asantehene that the process will resume next week when he returns from his brief visit abroad,” he assured
Adding that the Otumfuo led mediation team will bring lasting peace to Bawku and its environs.
You will recall that President Mahama began mediation talks when he assumed office on January 7, 2025.
The renewed call for peace in Bawku comes on the back of Thursday’s violent confrontation between police and some youth, reportedly resulting in deaths and injuries.
