Ernest Agbesi and co donate NDC T-shirts to Eastern Corridor communities

Ahead of the electioneering period, members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) along the Eastern Corridor areas of Ghana have given assurances that they will work harder than ever in ensuring that they secure victory for the party.

They have also pledged to ensure that the seats within those areas that are currently being held by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), are reclaimed for the NDC.

These assurances came from some of the leaders of the NDC within the areas when they received a collective total of 10,000 branded NDC T-shirts and caps from a team led by a former Managing Director of GCB Bank, Ernest Agbesi.

Speaking to the team after the presentations, some of them expressed joy at the donations, adding that the T-shirts contribute a great deal to their campaigns, especially in very remote communities.

One of them executives in the party, said in some instances, when they visit communities, they are asked for souvenirs of the party, but because they were not available, it made it difficult for them to properly convince electorates.

“This intervention could not have come at a better time. The whole political activities is always hinged on branding – the need to be visible as a party, and with this support, it means that it’s going to increase the visibility of the party, especially in the constituency. And so, we see this as an intervention that could not have come at a better time.

“In fact, especially now when we have a health walk coming up in Yendi on the 10th of August, and all these exercises will definitely require T-shirts, caps, and all manner of brandings, and so, bring these items at this time, I am so excited and I see this as something that will help propel the image of the party in the constituency and beyond,” he said.

Another executive explained the timeliness of the intervention, adding that this will enhance their campaign of making the National Democratic Congress appealing for the electorates.

“This intervention could not have come at a better time. The whole political activities is always hinged on branding – the need to be visible as a party, and with this support, it means that it’s going to increase the visibility of the party, especially in the constituency. And so, we see this as an intervention that could not have come at a better time.

“In fact, especially when we have two key programs coming up I the coming days… and then we have a health walk coming up in Yendi on the 10th of August, and all these exercises will definitely require T-shirts, caps, and all manner of brandings, and so, bring these items at this time, I am so excited and I see this as something that will help propel the image of the party in the constituency and beyond,”

Speaking on behalf of Team Agbesi, Robert Akati Adamu explained that the aim of this intervention is to squarely place the NDC out there as an attractive party and to increase their political gains ahead of the December general elections.

It has become necessary for us to bring them these T-shirts because we are having the campaign launch in Tamale, and then the following week, they will hold their regional health walk. So, giving them these T-shirts at this time will enable them all dress in the necessary paraphernalia to reflect the aspirations of the NDC during the walk and during the campaign launch.

“The main aim is to create visibility for the NDC and to market the NDC so that come December, John Mahama and the NDC will be victorious in the elections,” he explained.

The Team Agbesi has been on a campaign to win all the seats within the Eastern Corridor Zone of the country.

In the past, the team has donated motorbikes to all the orphan communities of the NDC in the area, as well as continuously engaging with the communities in an attempt to boost the chances of the party in those areas.

The team also donated one of four cornmill machines to the Gushegu township.

We’re taking back all seats in Eastern Corridor – Fmr GCB Bank MD declares

A former Managing Director of GCB Bank, Ernest Agbesi, has said that as the country enters another crucial electioneering period, people should be guided by the fact that no one wants to die just to elect someone.

Speaking to the media after he led a team on behalf of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to donate 15 motorbikes (the second batch in a series) to all the 9 orphan constituencies of the party in the Eastern Corridor of Ghana, Agbesi said that while Ghana is a peaceful country, should anyone foment trouble, they will be squarely matched.

He also expressed great confidence that the NDC will win back all the seats within the northern parts of Ghana that they lost during the 2020 general elections, adding that the current realities will go against the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Ghana is a peaceful country so I don’t think we need people to come and be telling us or preaching peace to us. Nobody wants to die because of elections so I believe, personally, that there’s not going to be any problem but as a party, like our leaders are saying, we are prepared for peace but if they bring violence too, I think our people are ready for it.

“As for the Eastern corridor, we are taking it back because it is our traditional seats. Some places, they used money but Ghanaians have realised that if they give you money today and you spend, before the next four years, you are going to be suffering. So, we are wide awake now. I don’t think anybody will go and collect money to sell his vote out. No. the reality is on the ground and people are seeing it. So, we are taking back the Eastern Corridor from Kpandai to Zagzugu Tatale, to Gushegu Karaga, Bunkurugu Yunyo, we are taking all because they are our seats,” he stated.

Speaking on behalf of all the other constituencies, during the presentation of the motorbikes at Yendi, Abukari Dawumi, the Member of Parliament for Wulensi, expressed gratitude to Ernest Agbesi and the team for the generous donation.

He explained that with these motorbikes, it will be much easier to mobilise people ahead of the December polls and to ensure that people come out to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“I’d like to thank Chief Agbesi and the team for intervening in this matter to support our constituencies to be able to carry out their work responsibly. Even though my constituency is not an orphan constituency, but I think that an intervention such as this one will help us to mobilise our members to come out and vote for the NDC to actually carry the day on December 7th. Our constituency happens to be one of the difficult constituencies where one election, one political party wins and another election, another political party wins but this time around, we intend to make history by making sure that this time around, the NDC becomes the first party to win the seat two terms consecutively.

“And I think that the provision of motorbikes to support in our campaign will facilitate our chances of winning in the 2024 general elections for both the president and the parliamentary candidate. So, we can’t thank Chief Agbesi and the team enough for this wonderful intervention,” he said.

Ali Adolf, NDC Northern Regional Chairman, also indicated that the party is hungry for power and will do all that is legally possible to win it.

“With the registration over here, we gave it every attention. It’s nothing less than 90%. We gave it the attention that it required. We are very hungry for power. So, we took the pain to ensure that at least we sensitise the people and those who have attained the age of 18 got themselves registered.

“If you don’t have voters, you cannot talk about getting power. And so, we did a lot of sensitisation to let people come out to register. We are now assured that victory will come for sure,” he said.

The NDC is looking for a comeback to political power in the December 2024 general elections, with its leader, John Dramani Mahama, hopeful of becoming president of Ghana again for his last four-year term.

Fmr GCB MD, Ernest Agbesi donates motorbikes to 9 constituencies in northern Ghana ahead of limited voter registration

Following calls by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)  in the nine orphan constituencies in the northern parts of the country, a former NIB Bank MD, Ernest Agbesi, has stepped in to provide a generous donation.

Responding to the calls of the people for motorbikes that will allow them to cover enough ground within their areas, Agbesi, who is a former Managing Director of GCB Bank, has donated a set of two each to the constituencies.

Converged at Yendi, representatives from the Zabzugu, Chereponi, Gushegu, Bimbilla, Wulensi, Karaga, Yendi, Tatale, and Mion/Sang constituencies each received their motorbikes.

Expressing his joy after receiving the bikes on behalf of his constituency, a community leader from Yendi said that the NDC, for instance, lost a lot of the northern seats in the 2020 elections because of basic things like the provision of motorbikes.

“Before these motorbikes, there were some kinds of polling centers and communities we cannot reach because, we want to go, but how do we get the means. We needed people to one or two things…

“… so, motorbikes is very crucial in this our election 2024 campaign. And Yendi, for instance, with 66 polling stations in the outskirts, we need to have motorbikes… and it will be a game changer for us because all the places we were not able to go, Weill use the motorbikes to go.

“In 2020, motorbikes was a very challenging issue for us, but now that we are getting this intervention early, we believe and hope that Election 2020 challenges will not surface in 2024, because of motorbikes,” he explained.

Interacting with the leaders, Ernest Agbesi, who has vowed not to rest until he helps the NDC win back all the seats it lost to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2020 elections, urged the leaders to out their voting rights to good use.

He encouraged the leaders to be on the lookout for persons who will come around during the year and especially during the election day to cause mayhem, so as to protect their votes.

“Make sure nobody steals you. They will come intimidating and causing chaos but ensure that you are vigilant and protect your votes… let us work to ensure that the votes do not go back into the hands of the other people, but that we work to bring John Mahama back to power,” he said.

In all, 18 motorbikes were handed over to the 9 constituencies in the northern parts of the country.

The bikes are also coming ahead of the Electoral Commission’s scheduled Limited Voter Registration exercise slated for May 7.

This, according to Ernest Agbesi, is only the first of many interventions to be implemented as the NDC prepares for the general elections of December 2024.
