Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang Engages Ghanaian Community in Canada, Highlights Government’s Development Agenda

Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has engaged members of the Ghanaian community in Canada, conveying the warm greetings of President John Dramani Mahama and reaffirming Government’s commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous Ghana.

During the engagement, the Vice President highlighted progress being made across key sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and other government initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Ghanaians and delivering tangible benefits to citizens.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang outlined Government’s commitment to implementing policies that support economic recovery, growth, and stability. She noted ongoing efforts to strengthen the economy through improved inflation management, reduction of economic pressures, better interest rate conditions, and measures aimed at creating a more stable economic environment.

She also highlighted key initiatives under the Reset Agenda, including the 24-Hour Economy programme, which she explained is designed to expand economic activities, create jobs, promote enterprise development, and increase productivity by encouraging businesses and industries to operate beyond traditional working hours.

The Vice President further spoke about the Big Push infrastructure initiative, describing it as a major investment in road infrastructure aimed at improving connectivity, supporting economic activities, enhancing access to markets, and ensuring that communities across the country benefit from improved infrastructure.

She emphasized the importance of transforming Ghana’s economy through value addition, manufacturing, and agriculture. Programmes such as Feed Ghana and the establishment of Farmer Service Centres were highlighted as strategic interventions to strengthen food production, support farmers, and build a more resilient agricultural sector.

The engagement also focused on Government’s investments in education, healthcare, and social inclusion. The Vice President highlighted initiatives such as the No-Fees Stress Policy, MahamaCares, Free Primary Healthcare, and the Women’s Development Bank as key interventions aimed at expanding access to opportunities and improving livelihoods.

Speaking on the Women’s Development Bank, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang explained that the initiative is intended to provide accessible financial support to women entrepreneurs, particularly those who have historically faced challenges accessing funding from traditional financial institutions.

The Vice President assured the Ghanaian community in Canada that Government remains committed to implementing policies that benefit Ghanaians both at home and abroad, while working towards building a stronger economy, expanding opportunities, and creating a more inclusive future for all.
